COD: Ghosts - A Giggles Review

Call of Duty: Ghosts
(Multiplayer Only Review)

Hours Played: 10

Initial Reaction (8/10)
Customizing your character, from cosmetics to perks, is a world better than it was in Black Ops 2. It is easy to assume that you will not be seeing the same players/load-outs on every map you run. That would be a much needed change. Maps are huge, which encourages long/medium range shooting over close range run and gun, which was the norm for Black Ops 2. Gameplay feels a bit looser, which isn't great, but still works.

Building My Character
I researched all the weapons and perks before playing, so I knew what direction I was going while spending my squad points. I encourage you to do the same. It will save you time, and your character will progress faster. Perks do unlock on level requirements, and you can pay for them as well, but everything else must be purchased. So don't rush to spend on Perks, you will unlock them eventually. Spend your points on weapons, attachments, or higher level perks, then score streaks.

Personal Preference
I mostly play with a medium range mobile camp style. This means I will move up to an aggressive yet comfortable position, then hover the area an wait for action. I call it mobile camping, because I am not crouched or laying down in one position waiting for a clean shot, I am moving around, just within a limited area, waiting for the opponent to enter it. When the area proves dormant, I quickly become aggressive, rather than back away, and my play changes accordingly. For this reason, the following guns/perks are my personal preference so far. I also prefer to use a silencer on all of my weapons. I understand I am sacrificing range (damage drop), but staying off the map is more valuable to me.

#1 AK-12 Ranger (assault rifle, medium range, visible)
Attachments: Suppressor and Grip

#2 MTAR-X Elite (SMG hybrid, medium/close range, not visible)
Attachments: Suppressor and Sight

#3 VEPR Runner (SMG close combat, not visible)
Attachments: Suppressor and Rapid Fire

Perk Preferences
1 Takedown (when killing an enemy, the skull icon does not show to his allies)
1 Ready Up (faster ADS while sprinting)
2 Scavenger (pick up ammo from down enemies)
2 Sleight of Hand (cuts reload time in half)
2 Focus (less gun sway, less flinch when shot)
3 Quickdraw (cuts ADS time in half)
3 Off the Grid (can not be tracked by UAV/ping)

Current Take (8/10)
I love this game so far, and love the potential for growth. This game puts heavy emphasis on character building and team play, which are two of my favorite details. It feels different than Black Ops 2, which I like. The only criticism I would afford would be that gameplay could be tightened up a bit. Other than that, excellent release.
